This project focuses on developing a drone-assisted inspection and monitoring approach for factory roofs and industrial facility areas without the need for scaffolding, ladders, or direct human access to hazardous zones. The system utilizes the advanced imaging and high-resolution digital zoom capabilities of the DJI Mini 4 Pro to safely inspect roof structures, drainage systems, and exterior industrial surfaces from a secure distance.
In many industrial facilities, routine roof inspections are difficult, time-consuming, costly, and potentially dangerous due to the height and structural complexity of production buildings. Traditional inspection methods often require scaffolding systems, elevated work platforms, or manual climbing, which increase operational downtime and occupational safety risks. Additionally, unnoticed issues such as clogged rain gutters, water accumulation, corrosion, insulation failures, or small surface cracks may lead to significant structural damage, energy loss, equipment malfunction, and expensive maintenance processes over time.
The proposed drone-based solution aims to provide a faster, safer, and more efficient alternative for preventive maintenance and damage assessment operations. Using high-quality aerial imaging, zoom-supported visual analysis, and stable flight capabilities, the drone can capture detailed photographs and videos of critical roof sections, drainage channels, ventilation units, solar panel surroundings, and hard-to-reach industrial areas. The collected visual data can then be reviewed by maintenance personnel to identify early-stage defects and prioritize repair activities before severe failures occur.
The project also supports occupational health and safety objectives by minimizing the need for workers to physically access dangerous heights. Furthermore, the system can reduce inspection time, labor costs, and production interruptions while improving the accuracy and frequency of maintenance checks.
This approach can be adapted for use in factories, warehouses, logistics centers, manufacturing plants, energy facilities, and other large-scale industrial environments. By integrating modern drone technology into industrial maintenance workflows, the project contributes to safer infrastructure management, more sustainable maintenance practices, and increased operational efficiency in industrial sectors.
