Invasive Species

This project invites students to explore how drones can support the study of invasive plant species in natural environments. The learning activities use a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone to capture aerial images and live video in river margins and natural park areas. These visual resources help students observe vegetation from a wider perspective.

Invasive plant species affect ecosystems in several ways. They spread quickly, compete with native plants, and modify habitats. Observing these species in the field often involves long walks and repeated visits. Such approaches demand time and can place pressure on fragile environments. Drone observation offers another way to look at these areas, reducing physical presence while allowing a broader view of the landscape.

Students practice planning simple flight paths and operating the drone with care. They collect photographs and short videos that later become learning materials. The project encourages reflection on the role of technology in environmental care. Students consider how drones can assist observation without disturbing wildlife. Attention is given to rules, safety, and respect for people and nature. The experience connects digital skills with ecological awareness and helps students understand how careful observation can support responses to invasive plant species.
